Virginia Bikers Association Hosts Rally
The Virginia Bikers Association hosted their 3rd annual Thunder on the Mountain motorcycle rally at the Lake Ridge RV Resort in Carroll.
More than 200 motorcyclists rode through the county as the Virginia Bikers Association held their 3rd annual “Thunder On The Mountain” bike rally on July 25-27 at the Lake Ridge RV Resort in Carroll.
“This was a huge success for the Association and it was great to support two great charitable organizations in the county,” said Wes Hurst, Supervisor for Carroll County and Treasurer for the Virginia Bikers Association.

In these times of last minute permit cancellations and council votes to ban motorcycle events, its refreshing to report of enthusiastic city officials discussing an upcoming rally.
Thunder in the Valley is celebrating its tenth annual rally with an expected attendance of 200,000 visitors to its event that will run from Thursday through Sunday in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Promising live music, food, an official bike parade and a range of motorcycle related events that includes a “biker baby” contest for proud biker parents.
Oakland Motorcycle Cops Stir Controversy with Loud Pipes

Civilians are usually the ones getting attention for loud motorcycle exhausts, but this time the San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Oakland Police Department– AKA “Rolling Thunder”– has re-installed noisy aftermarket pipes onto their fleet of Harley-Davidsons. According to the article, safety concerns spread among the department three months ago when an officer riding with stock pipes was struck by a motorist who claims he didn’t hear him coming. The new pipes produce an average of 93 decibels.
