Buro, 34, made the ultimate sacrifice when he was killed in the line of duty. Yesterday, about 100 fellow law enforcement officers, friends and supporters sat on their motor bikes and rode 90 miles through Virginia to launch the first annual Gary J. Buro Memorial Foundation Poker Run.

The gates will open at 9 a.m. for the bikers and their families to enjoy the festivities, and the rally will begin at 11 a.m. All bikers will depart the fairgrounds with a full police escort to the University of Richmond campus.

The registration fee of $25 per rider includes entry into the rally, biker pin, lunch, door prize tickets and musical entertainment upon returning to the fairgrounds. Families can enjoy a car show, moonwalk, a clown and face painting from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

The rally is limited to 500 participants and is a rain or shine event. Preregistration is encouraged. The flier and registration form can be downloaded at the Parks and Recreation Department page at chesterfield.gov. For more information, call (804) 748-1992 or (804) 751-4419.
