The Motorcycle Riders Foundation regrets to report that our beloved past President, Karen Bolin, passed away on October 30, 2006. Karen's integrity, her love of motorcycling, and her dedication to motorcyclists' rights will be long remembered. A memorial service will be held for Karen on November 4, 2006 at 10:00 AM at Yahn and Son Funeral Home 55 West Valley Hwy South, Auburn WA 98071. Karen requested that in lieu of flowers a donation be sent to the National Cervical Cancer Coalition (www.nccc-online.org) at 6520 Platt Avenue # 693, West Hills, CA 91307. Karen's concern and hope was that every woman be tested regularly.

Please contact Deborah Butitta with any questions.

Motorcycle Rider Rights News and Info: With Road Deaths Rising, Panel Reviews Motorcycle Practices

Headed for Trouble
By Douglas B. Feaver Special to The Washington Post Tuesday, September 12, 2006
The National Transportation Safety Board opens a two-day forum today on what has become the fastest-growing source of U.S. transportation fatalities -- the motorcycle crash.

The forum comes after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that 43,443 people died on U.S. streets and highways last year, more than in any of the previous 14 years. This despite the facts that fatalities declined for people in automobiles, that alcohol-related deaths were the lowest since 1999 and that fewer 16-to-20-year-olds were killed than in the previous year.

Too many of the magazines in our area wouldn't publish photos of girls in bikinis so Livia and I joined together with Lucky Cycles, CTM Customs, and Top Notch Custom Cycles to start our own magazine featuring lots of hot young ladies on bikes from various builders in our area and across the U.S.

Got this from Bill and Karen, good friends of mine at Rannings Racing. Someone stole a couple of bikes out of their trailer lastnigt. Click on read more for pictures and details. There is a reward for the safe return of the scoots.

From Karen Rannings
Okay, total freak out mode here!! The Harley and the 250 were stolen out of the trailer last night. I am making reward posters now. We just want them back unharmed. Jesse doesn’t know because we all know how he would react!! Bill and Jacob are cruising around on the 50’s hoping to spot them. We see tracks and know they were pushed by young kids. The foot prints aren’t very big. We have been letting Kelly sleep in the house at night. We can’t wait for the police to do their job because they can get harmed real quick. The sooner we get them back the better shape they will be in. We are offering a $500 reward with no charges filed if they are returned unharmed. The Harley is classified as Grand Theft!!

Posted by herseyc on Thursday, July 13, 2006 @ 08:43:46 EDT (929 reads)

I really need to hear from some riders in VA that use toll roads.

Do you use an Ez-pass or Smart Tag on your motorcycle?
Have you ever had any problems with it working on your motorcycle?
How hard was it to (or how did you) mount on your bike?

This is VERY important so please either respond here or send me an email at herseyc@vabiker.net

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has begun to finalize the details of the Motorcycle Safety Grant program set forth in the SAFETEA-LU highway legislation (PL 109-59) signed into law in August 2005.

The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) is pleased to report NHTSA has maintained the integrity of the program as drafted by the MRF in conjunction with the US House and Senate. The program description and qualifying requirements are simple and clear cut, just as the MRF and the supporting motorcycle rights organizations intended when they lobbied the Congress to include this important program.

Motorcycle Rider Rights News and Info: 50 Percent Of *ALL* Motorcycle Accidents Are Caused By Inattentional Blindness
Posted by herseyc on Thursday, April 20, 2006 @ 07:49:39 EDT (814 reads)

Approximately three-fourths of all motorcycle accidents involve another motor vehicle. Two-thirds of these accidents were caused by the motorist failing to yield the right of way. The most common reason given by the motorist involved in these accidents is that they "didn't see" the motorcycle. These types of accidents account for approximately 50 percent of ALL motorcycle accidents! Recent scientific studies focusing on a phenomenon known as "inattentional blindness" [IB] may help us understand why car drivers often end up causing accidents with motorcycles they "didn't see."
