ABATE of Virginia will propose helmet law reform legislation for the upcoming Legislative session. Final bill language will allow persons 21 years of age and older and who have 2 years of experience riding a motorcycle OR have successfully completed a motorcycle safety course will have the choice to wear a helmet or not while riding in Virginia.

RichG writes "As of August 30th, ABATE of Virginia now has a new chapter in the Lynchburg area, the IRON HORSE CAVALRY CHAPTER. As of this time we are attempting to locate a meeting place. It was agreed by the members that meetings will be at 7:00PM on the third Thursday of the month. As soon as a location is arranged that information will be supplied. "

Our first organizational meeting is actually to be held on August 30th, courtesy of Brother Dave Sutton, Sergeant-at-Arms for A.B.A.T.E. statewide and chairman of the Helmet Law Reform Committee. There are enough A.B.A.T.E. members in this area who have for awhile sought to establish another Lynchburg chapter, so with Bro. Dave's help it looks like it will be a reality in a few more days.
