News and Info: With Road Deaths Rising, Panel Reviews Motorcycle Practices
Posted by herseyc on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 @ 09:44:55 EDT (957 reads)
Headed for Trouble By Douglas B. Feaver Special to The Washington Post Tuesday, September 12, 2006 The National Transportation Safety Board opens a two-day forum today on what has become the fastest-growing source of U.S. transportation fatalities -- the motorcycle crash.
The forum comes after the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that 43,443 people died on U.S. streets and highways last year, more than in any of the previous 14 years. This despite the facts that fatalities declined for people in automobiles, that alcohol-related deaths were the lowest since 1999 and that fewer 16-to-20-year-olds were killed than in the previous year.

From Karen Rannings
Okay, total freak out mode here!! The Harley and the 250 were stolen out of the trailer last night. I am making reward posters now. We just want them back unharmed. Jesse doesn’t know because we all know how he would react!! Bill and Jacob are cruising around on the 50’s hoping to spot them. We see tracks and know they were pushed by young kids. The foot prints aren’t very big. We have been letting Kelly sleep in the house at night. We can’t wait for the police to do their job because they can get harmed real quick. The sooner we get them back the better shape they will be in. We are offering a $500 reward with no charges filed if they are returned unharmed. The Harley is classified as Grand Theft!!

Do you use an Ez-pass or Smart Tag on your motorcycle?
Have you ever had any problems with it working on your motorcycle?
How hard was it to (or how did you) mount on your bike?
This is VERY important so please either respond here or send me an email at herseyc@vabiker.net

News and Info: 50 Percent Of *ALL* Motorcycle Accidents Are Caused By Inattentional Blindness
Posted by herseyc on Thursday, April 20, 2006 @ 07:49:39 EDT (812 reads)
Approximately three-fourths of all motorcycle accidents involve another
motor vehicle. Two-thirds of these accidents were caused by the motorist
failing to yield the right of way. The most common reason given by the
motorist involved in these accidents is that they "didn't see" the
motorcycle. These types of accidents account for approximately 50 percent of
ALL motorcycle accidents! Recent scientific studies focusing on a phenomenon
known as "inattentional blindness" [IB] may help us understand why car
drivers often end up causing accidents with motorcycles they "didn't see."
