We have two bills that need your immediate attention. HB26 (allows auxiliary lighting on motorcycles) eeked out of the Transportation Committee with an 8-7 vote. The next stop is the House floor for a vote. We need you to write EACH of our delegates and ask that they support HB26. Tell them that the number one reason motorists give when causing an accident with a motorcycle is "I didn't see it". Auxiliary lighting makes us more visible and this is a safety issue. Go to http://www.vfr-race.com/hb1400.html and click "Click Here to Email the Delegates ". This will bring up an email page with each of the House members' email addresses filled in for you. Type your letter and hit send.
HB1117 (Blacksmith's Law) allows for additional penalties for Right of Way (ROW) violations resulting in injury or death. This bill will be heard in the Committee of Courts of Justice soon. Please write each committee member and ask for support of this bill. Tell them this bill can help save lives by allowing a judge to rule that ROW violators share the consequences of their actions with driver/rider education classes in the hopes that others will learn from their mistakes. This bill addresses all ROW violations, not just those involving motorcycles.
