People and Places: Crank and Chrome Cycles

On the Road Sandy and I just got home from Biketoberfest. We had an awesome trip despite a few mechanical problems.

The bike was running a little rough at low speeds. She seemed to be fine while running 75 on the Interstate but in town she was running really rough. I decided to take it to a local shop and have it looked out. This is how we ended up at Crank and Chrome Cycles on Ridgewood Avenue (US 1) in Holly Hill, FL.

Barry and his wife Joanne own and run Crank and Chrome Cycles and have been open at this location for a little over a year. Prior to that Barry ran a Titan Motorcycle Dealership and managed Arlen Ness store in Daytona.

The shop is a full service independent shop specializing in american v-twin service, parts, and sales. Their motto is "Bringing Back Old-Fashioned Service" and with the experience we had there I can say that they hold true to this.

Barry came out to have a look at the bike and quoted me an hour labor plus parts if needed. He wrote up a service ticket and a tech came right out and went to work on it. Taking it for a test drive FIRST to experience the problem. After a few tweaks on the carb she was running great.

Crank & Chrome's Shop

Crank and Chrome Cycles is a full service shop with 4 full time mechanics that specialize in Harley Davidson service and custom motorcycle repair. The shop is clean and well equiped to do repairs, as well as custom builds and restorations.

They also detail bikes. We were there while a customers bike was being detailed and I have to say it looked better than new.

A little later in the week I had some other problems with the belt drive. I went back to Crank and Chrome Cycles and Leroy one of the techs had a quick look at it and told me what I needed to do to keep her on the road. He even loaned me a couple of tools so I could make the repair myself. Now that is the kind of service you just do not see at many shops anymore.

Leroy and Charlie getting a roller ready.

Crank and Chrome Cycles services customer bikes on a first come first serve basis and their labor rate is probably the best you will find in the Daytona Beach area. The prices on their rollers where also INCREDIBLE - they can expect a call from me when I am ready to build.

If you are looking for a custom built motorcycle or a nice roller check out Crank and Chrome Cycles If you are down in the Daytona area stop in at Crank and Chrome Cycles. Barry and his crew will treat you right. Tell them you heard about them on the VABiker.NET.
