This letter of invitation is in hopes you will climb on board one of the fastest growing Bike Week’s on the East Coast. 2005 will be our 3rd year and the response has been unbelievable. The first year we had 3000 bikes, last year about 7500 bikes and this coming year we are hoping for about 12,000 or more... The last 2 years were 2 1/2 day events. This year is going to be a 5 day event. April 6th 2005 – April 10th 2005. It is being sponsored by Outer Banks Harley Davidson and the Outer Banks Hog Chapter. The community response has been great and they are eager for this yearly venture to help kick the resort season off to a good start.
The Outer Banks is on the northeast coast of North Carolina, about 65 miles south of Virginia Beach, Va. The area in which we live is a beautiful beach resort that has over 100 miles of ocean front. We were informed by one of the members of the NC Department of Motor Vehicles that there are 4000 registered motorcycles just in this County.
Let me tell you a little about myself. My name is Marshall Bennett and I am one of the board members of the 911 Thunder Motorcycle Association which is a non-profit organization. We were formed after September 11th and plan an annual ride to the Pentagon and the WTC. I am also a retired Police Officer of 19 years service. I work as head of security at a restaurant and sports bar here in Nags Head, NC.
Slammin Sammy's Offshore Grille & Stillery and the 911 Thunder Motorcycle Association held a Welcome Bikers Social from 5pm to 7pm for OBX Bike Week 2004 . Well this year we want to do the same thing but with a little different kick. On Friday Night, April 8th we are going to sponsor an OBX Meat & Greet Party with Barbecue grills blazing with Bar BQ ribs. We are going to have a Fat Boys Beer Belly Contest and Leather & Biker Fashion Show. Featuring Bikers Leather & Patches as one of our sponsors.
**The average weather temperature for theses dates are Highs of 68 degrees and Lows of 49 degrees. "Perfect Leather Weather"
Thanks in advance for your consideration,
Marshall Bennett
