Add this to your list of “must do’s” this summer: The sign says “East Side Raw Bar and Grill”, just minutes from downtown Winchester, VA., east on route 50, and located on the left hand side of the road, or the right hand side, if you’re coming from DC west on 50. You will discover one of the absolute best seafood restaurants in a 500 mile radius, no kidding; serving everything from fresh lobster tail to clams and oysters, Alaskan king crab and soft-shell blues from the Chesapeake. You can munch on “old bay” steamed shrimp from the steamer right behind the bar, or eat great rib-eye steaks and “the catch of the day” rockfish, tuna, swordfish or mahi-mahi. You can also get Pasta and delectable salads. The East Side is complete with a very bright and friendly bar; they serve all the best and latest mixed drinks, local wines and beers, as well as, their superb steamed signature seafood menu at the bar. Most weekends you can relax with food, drink and great music from local groups, like the “Blue Channel Cats” from WV, and others, who play an excellent variety of music that will keep you wanting to stay.
My wife and I discover the place soon after they opened earlier this year and have been very impressed. We have also just learned that the owners, Jim and Gloria Dill, have completed and will be opening their new Tiki bar and patio around the 3rd of August. The location has ample parking and is a great place for a lunch or dinner date with friends, come on your bike, in the 32’ coupe, the 57’ Chevy, or the 68’ AC Shelby 427, you will not be disappointed.
