My name is Diane Sherwood, I’m from Minnesota and I’m organizing a nationwide benefit run for the rescue workers who are now sick from doing clean-up at Ground Zero from 9-11. The chemicals & toxins that they were exposed to has created both short and long-term health problems.
My goal is to have organized runs from every state in the U.S., all doing a run on the same day, leaving at the same time. The run has been set for Sat., Sept. 11th at 12:30 p.m. CDT. The run can be any length you choose, registration is $10 per rider, and proceeds will go to Mount Sinai’s ‘Health for Heroes’ program in New York.
I would like to ask your organization to consider doing a run on Sept. 11th (if that date doesn’t work you could do a run at any time and we’ll send the proceeds to Mount Sinai). Please contact me as soon as possible if you are going to do a run so I can chart all the states participating. I do believe that it is possible to get complete participation from every state.
What the rescue workers and volunteers saw and did at Ground Zero is very sad and the physical and emotional healthcare needs will continue for years.
