Runs and Rides: April Jam Motorcycle Rally - Franklin, VA - April 14, 2007

The April Jam Motorcycle Rally, which will benefit Troop 17 Boy Scouts and the family of trooper Robert Hill, will be held from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. at Southampton Fair Grounds in Franklin. Live bands Bullets Never Lie, Gridlock 64, Knight Hawk, Southern Cross and Honkytonk Highway will perform. To enter your bike or truck in the custom bike and off-road truck builder show, e-mail sundawgsrc1@yahoo.com. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children 12 and under, and free for children 6 and under.

Three days after Lynette Chism died in a motorcycle crash, her friends and fellow bikers follow her fatal route. BY JENNIFER LATSON - March 14, 2007
NEWPORT NEWS -- It was a good day to ride but a solemn occasion when two dozen men and women pulled into the Crab Shack parking lot on motorcycles Tuesday afternoon.
They were coworkers and riding buddies of Lynette Chism, and they rode Tuesday in her honor. Chism, 42, of Newport News, died Saturday in a biking accident in Hampton when her motorcycle hit a curb and threw her into a concrete light pole.

announced the release of a new video public-service announcement that
reminds motorists to watch for motorcycles when they drive.
The 30-second PSA -- which also is available in 20- and 10-second
versions -- depicts a distracted driver's near-collision with a passing
motorcyclist who, as the driver learns later that day, is his dentist.

I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Eddie Boyce the owner and primary wrench and I can tell you he has a true passion for everything motorcycle. He has been riding and wrenching on bikes since 1967.

August 11, 2006 (MILWAUKEE) - Harley-Davidson is changing its New York Stock Exchange ticker symbol to HOG.
Harley executive Tom Bergmann says the new ticker symbol captures the spirit of what Harley-Davidson is all about.
Bergmann made the announcement while in South Dakota for the Sturgis Bike Week rally, which annually draws hundreds of thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts.

Beginning Sept 1 we will start publishing a monthly FREE motorcycle magazine in Maryland/Delaware/Virginia. The name of the magazine will be Biker Beauties. Too many of the magazines in our area wouldn't publish photos of girls in bikinis so Livia and I joined together with Lucky Cycles, CTM Customs, and Top Notch Custom Cycles to start our own magazine featuring lots of hot young ladies on bikes from various builders in our area and across the U.S.

During the six-day tour, Lane will spend time with service members and their families at Vogelweh Military Complex as well as participate in July 4th celebrations at Spangdahlem Air Force Base, Baumholder Army Base and Ramstein Air Base. This tour is co-sponsored by Armed Forces Entertainment.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has begun to finalize the details of the Motorcycle Safety Grant program set forth in the SAFETEA-LU highway legislation (PL 109-59) signed into law in August 2005.
The Motorcycle Riders Foundation (MRF) is pleased to report NHTSA has maintained the integrity of the program as drafted by the MRF in conjunction with the US House and Senate. The program description and qualifying requirements are simple and clear cut, just as the MRF and the supporting motorcycle rights organizations intended when they lobbied the Congress to include this important program.

This year's fifteenth annual motorcycle and scooter commuting demonstration will increase the number of riders on the road, according to Ride to Work, a non-profit advocacy organization. "Riding to work on this day shows the positive value of motorcycles and scooters for transportation. For many people, riding is an economical, efficient and socially responsible form of mobility that saves energy, helps the environment and provides a broad range of other public benefits," states Andy Goldfine, the event organizer. Motorcycle and scooter enthusiasts and rider organizations worldwide encourage their members to ride to work on this day.

the essence of the biker lifestyle.
I personally don't have what it takes to be a biker. I think tattoos are
repulsive, the only leather I have is on my handbags, and I'm too small to reach
the handlebars. But, I can appreciate a style and culture different from my
own.

This seminar will demonstrate the proper techniques of what and what not to do, and knowing the appropriate techniques to apply to an injured fellow rider.

They come to talk about motorcycles, buy bike accessories and eat free, chili-smothered hot dogs provided by the store.
