June 29, 2010 by Hersey · Leave a Comment

We are located at 2424 Castleton Commerce Way, Suite 1101 in Virginia Beach off of London Bridge Road. We offer custom powder coating for motorcycles, lawn furniture, metal bedroom furniture, Nerf bars, vehicle rims, valve covers, car and truck bumpers and a whole lot more. Being riders ourselves, we know how particular other riders are about their bikes and how they want their bikes to look. We take the extra time to make your parts look just right. We take pride in our work-so you can take pride in your bike. We donated our powder coating services for the Susan G. Komen bike that is being raffled off this summer(2010).

Come by the shop to see all the colors and textures that are available. Check out the metallics, flip-flops, neons, candies, and even glow in the dark colors. Some of the best things about powder coating parts that you already own is that you know that it will fit, you can choose any color you want and you won’t have any old parts laying around collecting dust and cluttering up your garage.

Call us anytime at 757-406-2922 and talk to Jim. We open at 10 am and are usually here until 8 pm or later Monday through Saturday or just give us a call and we can make other accommodations to fit your time schedule.

Visit J & J Powder Coating website for more information.

2010 Bike Tour Drawing Visitors

May 10, 2010 by Hersey · Leave a Comment

Motorcyclists from throughout the state have been roaring into Martinsville for about a month, and a local tourism official is rolling out the welcome mat.

Martinsville is participating in a program called the Motorcycle Grand Tour of Virginia, said Jennifer Doss, director of tourism for the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corp. (EDC). Managed by the Governor’s Motorcycle Council of Virginia, the tour includes more than 80 sites throughout the state.

For each site they visit between April and November, enrolled motorcyclists receive a stamp for passports they carry with them, Doss said. The stamps can be redeemed for prizes, including a grand prize vacation package for two to Virginia Beach.

Looking for scenic rides towards Manassas

April 28, 2009 by Hersey · 3 Comments

Received this from a reader looking for scenic rides in West VA and VA.

Anyone have any good suggestions for them?

My wife and I will be traveling through West Virginia and Virginia on our way to Rolling Thunder in Washington DC, May 22nd and our question is…can you recommend any beautiful, scenic motorcycle rides or roads we could take on the way down? We will be headed toward Manassas where my brother lives.

I would appreciate any suggestions you may have.
Thank you in advance! Keep the rubber side down! Steel

Walls of Death

March 12, 2009 by Hersey · 1 Comment

Just an interesting article I ran across at http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2009/03/walls-of-death-in-amusement-parks-brief.html

Sandy and I make it a point to go see the Hell Riders Wall of Death Show at the Iron Horse Saloon during Biketoberfest.  Great show, these guys take vintage motorcycles and ride them at high speeds around this wooden barrel. If you have seen the set up at an event but have never coughed up the few bucks to check out the show you should it is well worth it.
