Virginia HB1267 – Motorcycle Helmet Use Penalty

HB1267 changes the penalty for not wear or wearing an improper helmet to $25 and no court cost. Contact your representative and ask them to support this bill.
“Any person who violates this subsection shall be subject to a civil penalty of $25 to be paid into the state treasury and credited to the Literary Fund, and no court costs shall be assessed.”

Please remind me why I want to support this bill HB1267?
This bill brings the fine for not wearing a helmet or for wearing an “improper” helmet inline with the seat belt fines.
Currently a helmet ticket also has court cost attached to it. This bill also removes court cost.
