Looking for scenic rides towards Manassas
April 28, 2009 by Hersey
Received this from a reader looking for scenic rides in West VA and VA.
Anyone have any good suggestions for them?
My wife and I will be traveling through West Virginia and Virginia on our way to Rolling Thunder in Washington DC, May 22nd and our question is…can you recommend any beautiful, scenic motorcycle rides or roads we could take on the way down? We will be headed toward Manassas where my brother lives.
I would appreciate any suggestions you may have.
Thank you in advance! Keep the rubber side down! Steel

route 50 thru west va up to about garrisionville is a nice str8 shot ride with nice views and thru west va great twist and bends on it. Thru west va you could take 42, to 55 to 81 to 66 .. just get a map, if youre coming thru the west more then likely regardless of where youre going youll hit a nice mountian scene
Into bluegrass and oldtime music? Check out Virginia’s Heritage Music Trail through SW Virginia. Don;t to stop at the Davis Bourne Inn in Independence,,,
There are great backroads east and west of the Shenandoah. Horse farms and vineyards dot the landscape, as well as meandering streams and rolling hills. You could spend days exploring the roads between 55, 50 and route 7.
